Chapter 4

I thought I was finally done with all this marriage business, word finally got around that I was not interested in marriage and the letter was for a future reference more far down the line. It was true, I didn't mean to imply that I was looking for marriage right no, but rather later. Though I would assume the men before were from a far land, and they only heard a maiden sent out a marriage request since they were a lot older than me. Though it seems as if one more person wanted to try, though try as he might it will most likely end the same.
I was waiting by the door for someone by the name of Lord Marcos Ursa. This time I knew he was from a large town somewhere in northern territory, or so they say. Not many people really know anything about him, which means of course he hasn't heard about my age. Though nonetheless I decided to dress for the occasion. I decided to wear a silver dress that ended nicely above my elbows, some black heels. It wasn't my most ideal dress for the skirt was quite long it barely touched the floor and it spread out when I sat little to my liking, but I wore it anyways. Though as you can guess I wasn't happy about meeting yet another man who was looking for a ring.
When I looked outside I noticed that it was a little cloudy today, the clouds were quite dark and not even a speck of sunlight got through the thick grey blanket, much like my mood. In the distance I make out a small shape that I assumed to be the carriage that he would be arriving in. A few minutes later I heard a knock on the door, I immediately answered and was at first sightly baffled. For instead of a man who was dressed in the finest clothes I was met with some armor? More specifically a man almost fully clad with some armor, I was quite shocked because I never saw anyone who dawned something as old aged, you could say, as armor. We were well past the Middle Ages, so I couldn't quite understand why he was wearing such a thing. He had a white armor and between some gaps you could see he was wearing black. He had short light brown hair and black eyes. He was currently wearing a slightly bored expression.
"Good afternoon, may I assume that you are Lord Ursa," I asked
    "Yes," He replied.
"Welcome to the Lillium manor, please come in."
    "Thank you."
"He's not much for words I guess, at least he won't be as annoying as Lord Paco,"  I thought to myself.
"May I see the study of your father's," he suddenly asked.
"May I ask why you would like to see my father's study," I asked him.
"Your father was a scientist right?"
"Yes, but I would like to know why you want to know about my father's experiments and studies, or rather what you plan to do with the information."
I know that I was being quite rude, but I didn't know much about him so I didn't know what he would do with the information. Some people might sell it, but of course other scientists might receive some of it some of it. Though believe it or not some scientists are majorly corrupted and therefore can't be trusted. Though maybe I should let him in, perhaps he would be able to help me, or provide some outside input.
"I would like to simply know the progress of his work, how it's coming along for that I've always been a fan of his work ever since I was a young lad. Though if you don't want to reveal anything that's fine I was simply curious," he said.
"He could be lying, but something tells me he isn't. I guess I could show him some of it, besides he said it was okay if I didn't want to show all of it."
"Okay, I'll show you some of it. Though please don't go through any drawers or cabinets."
    "Thank you."
I led him down the hall where the study was. Though I was a little worried about the state it was in, I haven't been in there lately and so I was concerned whether or not it had been disturbed or changed lately.
    "This way please."
The room was a little messy, some papers were left out on the desk and pictures were tacked up on the wall. Most of the counters were covered with papers or a light coating of dust. Most of the most of the research were inside the drawers. There were a lot of diagrams and lists about various plants or animals. My father was a biologist for the most part, he was able to discover a few plants that could be used as medicine and some new hybrid plants.
"This brings back memories," I said.
"What kind of memories," asked Lord Ursa.
"When I was a little girl I used to come in here and watch father look at plants and insects. Whenever I asked my mother what father was doing she said that he was having a staring contest with the plants and animals. As I got older I realized my father was studying the plants for anything unusual or testing them when he closed the door. Sometimes I would assist him whenever he brought in a plant. I became so inspired that I started to began experimenting with roses. They became my passion and I began to start cross breeding them and creating some interesting combinations, I remember sometimes spending hours inside the laboratory experimenting with different roses and trying to create the perfect rose."
    "Did it work?"
    "I suppose."
"What was your father studying before he died."
"I'm not sure, he sometimes locked himself in this study refusing to let anyone in for hours."
"Well, thank you for letting me in here. I best should be leaving now, though may I ask you something?"
    "Yes?"
"Are you sure you're okay continuing his work, why not let other scientists study it?"
"Sometimes people make mistakes, and sometimes information ends up in the wrong hands, therefore it's best if it all remains here. I shall also have you know I am perfectly capable of continuing his research."
"How can you be when you don't know what he did before he died?"
"I have my ways of figuring things out, and as you said before Lord Ursa, you should be leaving now right?"
"Yes, have a good day Miss Lillium."
"I wish you safe travels back to your home."
"Safe travels indeed Lord Ursa, I suppose you shall perhaps soon find out why some things need to be under lock and key. Though perhaps you can handle it." I thought to myself as his carriage disappeared from view.
I feel like this chapter was so bad and out of character, but I needed to show more of Lucy's character and how some things in her family are under lock and key! I'm sorry this chapter was so out of place, though now you see a new more serious charcter has come in and that the Lilluim manor has some lovely secrets. So stayed tune to the next chapter, and I hope it'll make more sense, though it'll be on a happier note and not so foreboding as this one seemed to be! Until then Happy Reading! :) (Smile)
